Frequently Asked Questions

Let's have a look at them together...

01. Do I need a permit to build a swimming pool?
A permit is not necessary under certain conditions.

Depending on the region where you live in Belgium and the maximum number of cubic meters :

  • Brussels and its surroundings: 20m²
  • Wallonia: 75m²
  • Flanders: 80m² *

Please note that your swimming pool must be behind your home in relation to the front door and especially 3 meters from the neighbors' property line. If this is not possible, a building permit is then compulsory. All useful information can be found with the services in your city.
* In the north of the country, add the size of your existing terrace to the number of m².

02. Can I install my pool myself?
Yes, our “Waterair” kit pools are designed to be easily assembled.

Thanks to our user manual.
Depending on the size of your pool, three to four people are required for assembly.
As for the installation of the liner, it is carried out by us.

03. My land is sloping, can I install a swimming pool?
Yes. The structure of our pools is designed for this type of installation.

Our models are 100% self-supporting in both directions, fully or partially inground. In addition, there is no need to build a support wall. The structure, based on panels, can be easily delivered to your home, on all types of terrain, unlike the shell pool.

04. I don't have much space, can I install a pool anyway?
Yes, our pools are designed to be installed in more confined spaces

Several sizes are available, such as the smallest (between 10 and 20 m²) or the mini
(less than or equal to 10 m²). Either way, our models are designed to blend in with your garden.

05. Do you have rectangular pools?
Yes, and even several models

You have the choice between the models Barbara , Sara and Luna whose corners are rounded for better water hydraulicity.
The models Carla and Emilie , who have right angles, bring a touch of sobriety to your garden.

06. Why use steel panels for a swimming pool?
Steel is a material with many advantages that will withstand for decades.

It is resistant to extreme conditions ** and its elasticity allows you to produce, according to your tastes, different shapes. In a time where the climate has become a global issue, steel is one of the most recycled materials. According to a study by VERITAS (MLH1B970074F), Waterair panels withstand more than 4 times the maximum pressure exerted on the structure of the pool. Its stability is greater than a 45cm concrete wall.
** In the event of severe frosts in winter, earthquake or other earth movement, this type of pool will resist without cracks!

07. Is there no risk of corrosion?

Thanks to Waterair's expertise, the panels have multilayer protection for the longevity of your pool. For comparison, it is proven, thanks to tests carried out by CETIM, that under the most extreme conditions, no trace of red rust has appeared. This success is due to the composition of the panel: a 150 / 100th corrugated steel core and a galvanized alloy protection.

08. Do you also install the terrace of my swimming pool?
Of course, this is just as important as the pool itself.

We can draw up a plan giving you an idea of the installation of your future swimming pool. This guarantees you security but also a beautiful overview of your garden. Of course, we respect the budget that you have set for yourself. For the development, we work in collaboration with trusted partners: DOM CERAMICHE , Govadeck , Namgrass , Stone , IPE wood . It is not excluded to work with a company of your choice.

09. Why clean my pool?
It is important that the water stays clean.

The filtration system installed already cleans your pool but increased monitoring of the filter is recommended to avoid clogging and that your pool becomes a pond. This would cause damage to your pool and repair costs. It is best to control your pool and collect the waste using a dip net .
Also remember to check the water quality (pH and its chlorine level), thanks to our reliable and efficient products.

10. How can I avoid a green swimming pool?
It is better to clean your pool often than having to correct green water. For this, regular checks are necessary.

Again, watch the filter so that the water breathes. The flow rate of your filter must be adapted to the amount of water in your pool. The pH is between 7 and 7.4 max. If the pH is too high, the disinfectant is neutralized and algae can develop. When bacteria stick to the walls and bottom of the pool, they multiply, hence the importance of cleaning it regularly. In summer, during hot weather, it is advisable to put on your cover to avoid photosynthesis in the water.

11. My pH is too low or too high, what should I do?
First, the pH level is excellent if it fluctuates between 7 and 7.4 max.

If this is not the case, we advise you to correct it by using specific products to raise or lower the pH of the water.
CAUTION: Read the user manual carefully before using these products. Only use them if the pH level requires it.
You can also get an alkalinity corrector to stabilize the pH or a dosing pump which will allow you to avoid any purchase of corrective products. As you can see, the pH is an important parameter for the good health of your pool. Regular monitoring is therefore recommended.

12. How to maintain the coping of your swimming pool?
At Waterair, we work with reconstituted stone copings.

The advantage is that this material does not require any specific maintenance, just cleaning if it is useful. You take advantage of spring to check and clean everything with a broom just before restarting your pool. You can also use a high pressure cleaner which gives faster results.
However, some cases require special attention:

  • If the joints change color: apply a little bleach diluted with 50% water on the joints. After cleaning, rinse with clean water with a brush or other object.
  • If there is a stubborn stain: the broom or the cleaner cannot clean the coping properly, use Easy Cover on the dirty places, and then rinse with fresh water.
13. Why should I invest in automatic disinfection?
The disinfection is done by measurement and regulation system, a device which checks the parameters of the water of your swimming pool.

It is very easy to use and above all it is the guarantee of having a specific and lower concentration of chlorine (3 to 5 x). It is also a way to avoid lime deposits. A good filtering system combined with an automatic disinfection system is the best guarantee for quality water!

14. Why put glass (MFA) in my sand filter?
It's simple, the MFA is a self-sterilizer for your pool.

MFA reduces your water consumption by 50% during cleaning. Its fineness (3 to 5 microns against 40 to 50 for sand) gives a much better filtration. Sand tends to deteriorate due to surface contamination. As the MFA prolongs the life of the filter, we recommend cleaning it once every two months and changing the material every 6 years. If you choose sand, you must clean it every month and replace it every 3/4 years.

15. Isn't a sand filter better than a cartridge filter?
Let's say that a sand filter has some disadvantages compared to the cartridge filter.

It is initially less effective for filtering water (between 30 and 45 microns), then you consume more water with each cleaning (+ 500 liters). Water must imperatively be evacuated by sewers. It is forbidden to let water run on your property or in your rainwater tank.
